Distinct fibrotic, epithelial and immune transcriptomic programs in phenotypes of chronic lung allograft dysfunction

Evidence level: preprint; human cohort (bulk RNA-seq of explanted lungs)

A bioRxiv preprint (version 1, posted 28 May 2026, not peer reviewed) reporting bulk RNA sequencing of explanted lungs from 45 recipients with end-stage CLAD compared with control and IPF lungs.

As of . Primary source: bioRxiv record via DOI.

Summary

Preprint, not peer reviewed. The study used bulk RNA sequencing of explanted lung tissue from 45 recipients with end-stage CLAD, of whom 20 had a restrictive-pattern chest imaging finding (RLO) and 25 did not. These were compared with 27 control donor and lobectomy lungs and 16 lungs with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Findings have not been peer reviewed and should be read as preliminary. The details of the findings were not recorded here beyond the study design.
